Today, the European Commission disbursed €128 million in grants to Denmark as its third instalment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). As for all Member States, payments made to Denmark under the RRF are performance-based and depend on the implementation of the investments and reforms described in its recovery and resilience plan.

On 19 December 2024, Denmark submitted to the Commission a payment request based on the achievement of the 7 milestones and targets. Among these are elements of Denmark’s Green Tax Reform introducing taxes on CO2 emissions. This represents the culmination of Denmark’s climate-related reform, where taxes are combined with incentives for business investments to reduce emissions and foster energy efficiency. It builds on the outcome of the expert group on options for taxing CO2 emissions for all industries including agriculture and mineralogical processes.

On 17 February 2025, the Commission adopted a positive preliminary assessment of Denmark´s request for payment. The favorable opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council on the payment request paved the way for the Commission to adopt a final decision on the disbursement of the funds.

Denmark’s overall Recovery and Resilience Plan is financed by €1.6 billion in grants. An interactive map providing examples of reforms and investments supported by the Recovery and Resilience Facility is available online.
