Located near Vittorio Veneto, you can discover the Caglieron Caves, whose origin derives from the stream of the same name that has carved a gorge over time and from man’s mining activities that have created additional hollows.
Along the way, you can observe waterfalls and limestone walls that offer an impressive view. The symphony of nature, with the flow of the Caglieron Stream and the singing of crickets, cicadas and birds, will cheer your walk.
It is important to note the presence of a barrier-free loop trail, making the visit accessible to all, and the possibility of organizing guided tours.
The first cave, Grotta dei Breda is one of the largest caves. Next, you will encounter the Grotta della Madonna, a spiritual place dedicated to Our Lady, where, if you wish, you can take a few minutes of meditation. Further on, a footbridge will lead you to the Grotta di San Lucio, now used for the cheese-making process of a local company. The Grotta di Santa Barbara will fascinate you with its structure, and it is curious to know that it was once a mushroom farm. The trail will then take you to an old mill where you will also find a restaurant to take a break.
On the way back, you can visit the Museo dello Scalpellino, which illustrates the art of stone carving. Near this natural treasure trove, you can also visit the Forest of Art, where you can discover masterpieces that nature offers and works that nature has inspired artists.
Enjoy the tastes of tradition at nearby establishments, among which we can mention Ristorante Alle Grotte da Nereo, Ristorante Mainor, Osteria con cucina Chies Milva in Fregona and Ristorante Dal Selvaggio in Vittorio Veneto.
Nearby you can stay at several establishments, such as in Fregona Bed & Breakfast al Molino and Agriturismo ValBarè, and in Vittorio Veneto’s Albergo Ristorante Flora.
