The crown of Quebec’s twelve peaks and the southern group of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Two different expressions of the mountain concept. On the one hand, the lush forest and rounded peaks of the French corner of Canada. On the other, the brilliance of the Dolomites which, imposingly, seems to pierce the sky above the Alps. Two distinct territories that have become equally iconic in the world of ultra trail running thanks to the challenges that their trails can offer.

Two journeys that become the continuation of each other, within the ‘Dolomiti-Extreme Trail & Bromont Ultra: a race across the ocean’, promoted by Karpos. From 2024, the overall winners of the Bromont Ultra 160K will in fact be able to take up one of the challenges proposed by the Dolomiti Extreme Trail at the beginning of June, living a unique experience among the wild trails in the Dolomites. Those who instead will be the first to cross the finish line of the DXT 72k in Forno di Zoldo will be able to fly to Canada in October and compete in one of the distances offered by the most important ultra event in French Canada.

‘The aim of this collaboration is to create a bridge between the communities of trail runners,’ explains Giuseppe Lira, Brand Manager of Karpos, ‘we want to give the winners of the two races in which we are partners the opportunity to try out new challenges, get to know the area and compare themselves with athletes who share the same passion. The mountains, as well as the community that frequents them, are one and the same.’

Born in 2007 at the foot of the Dolomites, Karpos represents the outdoor soul of the MVC group.

Intensity, lightness and Italian style are the way of understanding mountain sports according to the clothing brand, as expressed by the payoff ‘Free To Keep Going’.

Over the years Karpos has tested its garments with the best athletes in world mountaineering, trail running and ski mountaineering, developing the most innovative solutions on the market.

Since 2021 Karpos has launched the ‘Help The Mountains’ programme, through which it donates up to 1% of its turnover each year to support activities that contribute to the maintenance and development of the mountains.

Created in 2013, the Dolomiti Extreme Trail, or more simply DXT, is a journey through the southern massifs of the Monti Pallidi, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

There are five distances proposed by the trail event starting from Forno di Zoldo, through vertical panoramas, scree and streams.

Over the years, the event has grown in size and appeal, attracting athletes from over 50 countries and becoming part of the ‘Europe Trail Cup’ international race circuit.

Established in 2014 as the Canadian version of the ‘100 American Miles’, the Bromont Ultra is the trail running event that takes in the twelve most iconic mountains in Quebec, Canada. Participants can take on one of five challenges: 160K, 80K, 55K, 25K, 12K. The queen trial by distance is worth 6 ITRA points and is particularly unpredictable due to weather and terrain conditions. Approximately one in two athletes fails to complete it.
