Treviso, 03rd October 2018. Meetings with foreign delegations are on-going at the Treviso-Belluno Chamber of Commerce premises.
For the first time at regional level, the Chamber of Commerce presents the operating arm for the Chamber internationalization: the Nuovo Centro Estero of the Venetian Chambers of
Commerce whereof Mario Pozza is President.
When it comes to internationalization, – says Pozza – the Chamber of Commerce intends to propose different and new initiatives to sustain and facilitate those enterprises that want to
look at foreign markets.
The Chamber, with its new Nuovo Centro Estero, has the ambitious aim to identify 1000 new companies – over the 3000 that are already steadily exporting – in order to accompany them, by means of
training and fact-finding visits proposals, towards carefully selected foreign markets.
Why are we talking about Senegal today? – Continues Pozza – Because Africa is the future of Europe, far just a couple of hours by plane, with lifelong relations with the continent. The
huge amount of resources of Italy in the field of international cooperation, moreover, they allow us to plan economic support actions in order to create new cooperation opportunities in
Africa.
I would like to thank the companies that are here today: with their questions and experience developed in Africa, they were able to give a relevant contribute.
I am pleased for the presence of the students coming from Istituto Riccati – Luzzati – has underlined Pozza – because our plans are on middle/long term and talking to the students of
today, it means to talk to the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
During the meeting Amadou Lamine CISSE – Ministry – Counsellor – Head of the Economic Office of the Senegal Embassy in Italy has spoken, underlying how Italy is the right partner
for Senegal, far just four hours by plane.
He has pointed out that the government wanted such initiative, and the Senegalese government itself will be the liaison for the Italian entrepreneurs that face the Senegalese market. In fact,
– says – next year Italy will be guest of honor at Dakar Fair.
Cheikh NDIAYE – General Director of the Foreign Trade International Center of Senegal (CICES) – Director of the Dakar International Fair, answering to a question by a building
entrepreneur of Treviso, he has informed that it is much important to take part to the Dakar Fair instead to the sectoral one. The Dakar Fair is international and allows to make contact with all
African countries. A sort of hub, of institutional filter to guarantee the access to the Country.
In the last 4 years, Senegal has scored a GDP growth between 6 % and 7%.
It is a market that offers business and investment opportunities, thanks to its strategic position that makes it point of call for the navigation towards South America and the southern ports of
West Africa.
The legislative framework of the Country is oriented to a greater openness to foreign investments. There is a strong political stability able to sustain the membership to the West African Economic
Community (CEDEAO).
In Italy, there is one of the largest Senegalese community of Europe, facilitated by the good political relations between the two Countries, which are still developing and consolidating.
The Senegalese market has a great interest for made in Italy, in particular for the infrastructure, building, agro-industry and hydric (water supply and water treatment) sectors, and all those
sectors related to the touristic development.
