The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, at 5:00 p.m., in the historic Church of San Gregorio in downtown Valdobbiadene: as has become tradition for the series, the “Amici della Musica” Association of Valdobbiadene, chaired by Maria Elena Bortolomiol, will organize and host the concert, which marks the seventh stop of the highly successful summer event “La Musica nel Sacro.”
On this journey through the most beautiful and evocative churches of the Alta Marca region—now a UNESCO World Heritage Site—the stars of the show on September 13 will be the “Calliope” vocal quintet, conducted by Maestro Tarcisio Dal Zotto and accompanied on the organ by Maestro Stefano Maso, the “Calliope” vocal ensemble and the “Coll&Musica” youth orchestra, both conducted by Maestro Giuseppe Borin.
The program features several sacred pieces performed by the quintet alone, by Bruckner, Coppini, and Bartolini; Vivaldi’s Sonata in D minor “La Follia” for orchestra alone; the Chorale from Cantata No. 147 by Johann Sebastian Bach; and Francesco Durante’s “Il Magnificat” for soloists, choir, and orchestra.
The quintet originated from the Calliope Ensemble within the “Amici della Musica” Association of Valdobbiadene and is directed and curated by Maestro Tarcisio Dal Zotto: it features five solo voices, with first soprano Giovanna Capretta, second soprano Giuliana Bortolomiol, contralto Cristina Sartor, tenor Antonio Sandre, and bass Andrea Noal. The Coll&Musica orchestra is based in Colle Umberto and consists of students learning to play instruments, supported by some of their teachers; for logistical reasons, there will be a reduced number of orchestra members for the concert in Valdobbiadene. The Quintetto is the choir of the Associazione Amici della Musica, prepared and conducted by Giovanna Capretta with the support of Giuliana Bortolomiol.
