The Hills are now part of Google’s platform, launched in 2011, which offers high-resolution virtual tours of cultural and artistic sites worldwide, contributing to global promotion and recognition.

Valdobbiadene, November 7, 2024 – “The presence of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills on “Google Arts & Culture” marks a key milestone in the enhancement of the UNESCO Prosecco Hills site. “Google Arts & Culture” is a project launched in February 2011 by Google with the aim of offering virtual cultural tours by uploading ultra-high-definition photos of artworks and more to the app and website, using the same technology as Street View. Today, “Google Arts & Culture” collaborates with over 2,000 cultural institutions in more than 80 countries worldwide, providing significant promotion by reaching millions of global users. For our UNESCO site, which is characterized by a unique natural, cultural, artistic, and architectural heritage, being featured on this Google app represents an extraordinary means to present ourselves and allow anyone, anywhere in the world, to virtually explore the Hills, increasing the interest of visitors to later make a real visit. We are confident that this presence will help strengthen the international positioning of the Hills, focusing on high-quality tourism oriented towards culture and sustainability, with clear positive impacts on the territory, its economy, and our community.”

This is how Marina Montedoro, president of the Association for the Heritage of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, comments on the new territorial enhancement initiative that sees the UNESCO World Heritage Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills featured on a new dedicated page on Google Arts & Culture, an online platform developed by Google to promote and make global cultural and artistic heritage accessible. Launched in 2011, the platform collaborates with museums, archives, and cultural institutions worldwide, offering users the opportunity to explore art collections, historical monuments, and cultural sites through high-resolution images, virtual tours, and multimedia content.

This initiative, part of the “Enhancement and Promotion of the UNESCO Site of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills” project, is funded by the Ministry of Culture and led by the Municipality of Pieve di Soligo. This project is designed to promote the area’s international and national positioning, highlighting the remarkable combination of landscape and wine culture.

As the leading municipality of this project, stated Mayor Stefano Soldan of Pieve di Soligo, we are actively committed to representing and promoting our UNESCO Hills on both a national and international level. Beyond Google Arts & Culture, this Ministry of Tourism-funded project includes numerous initiatives: from a literary park dedicated to poet Andrea Zanzotto to the promotion of our regional products through the Food District, and enhancement of trails and paths, all working to create an even stronger and recognizable image of our area. We believe these initiatives are fundamental for attracting new visitors interested in discovering our unique landscape and traditions.

Additional project activities include a series of media campaigns on major national outlets to showcase the natural beauty of the Hills, their wine traditions, and the cultural heritage of the historic villages.

To further expand promotional reach, a collaboration agreement has been established with Publishing for Development LTD, the publisher of the official UNESCO World Heritage magazine. Through this collaboration, the Prosecco Hills have been featured on *Google Arts & Culture*, with a dedicated page that presents the history, scenic beauty, and distinctiveness of this UNESCO site. The platform invites the public to discover its wonders and consider visiting the area. Using innovative tools such as augmented reality and high-definition image exploration, *Google Arts & Culture* enables users to enjoy immersive experiences, interactively discovering the cultural treasures of the Hills and thus contributing to its promotion and accessibility to a broad and diverse audience.

This initiative represents an important step in the global promotion of the site, aiming to attract visitors and raise awareness of its invaluable cultural and natural heritage.
