In Mel, a medieval village dominated by Zumelle Castle, you can admire a jewel of turquoise waters, the Grotta Azzurra.
You will feel immersed in a magical natural atmosphere between rocks and waterfalls, until you reach the small emerald basin. Relax lulled by the gentle trickling of the waters between the rocks.
During the walk, you may be accompanied by the scent of cyclamens, which grow wild here, testifying how unspoilt nature is. The short path in the shade of the greenery then meets the Torrente Rui,
which you may have to cross depending on the flow of water.
Depending on the way the sun illuminates the cave, the waters may take on different hues, allowing you to witness a different spectacle of nature on each visit. It’s a small natural paradise where
the waterfall flows into the cave hidden by the mountains.
It is important to note that bathing is prohibited here and the route, although not particularly difficult, could be treacherous due to the slippery rocks.
In the vicinity of the Grotta, it is not possible to stop for a break, but there are many places where you will have the opportunity to taste the local culinary tradition, including the historical
antica Locanda Cappello and the
castello di Zumelle, where you can also choose a menu inspired by medieval tradition.
