WEBINAR: Grants for R&D: SBIR and STTR – November 15 @ 12 p.m.
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are highly competitive programs that encourage domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) with the potential for commercialization. By including qualified small businesses in the nation’s R&D arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated, and the United States gains entrepreneurial spirit as it meets its specific research and development needs.

On November 15, members are invited to join Man-Li Lin, Economic Development Specialist for the Small Business Administration (SBA), for an informative workshop during which participants will learn about several aspects of the SBIR and STTR programs, including: the funding phase process, eligibility requirements, the SBA’s role, participating federal agencies, online tutorials and the tips of proposal writing.

RECENT EVENTS:

America Buys Italian – October 3-5
From October 3-5, the IACC brought a delegation of grocery category buyers to Brescia, Italy for the second edition of “America Buys Italian,” a B2B summit connecting local Italian food and beverage producers with decision makers and purchasing managers from five major independent U.S. grocery chains. Italian suppliers had the opportunity to present their products to representatives from Buelher’s, Busch’s, Lowe’s, NS Grocery and Sendik’s, making new and profitable connections while further extending the reach of Italian specialty food products on the U.S. market.

Participants, including a cohort of C-level executives from each grocery chain and members of the National Grocers Association leadership team, had the opportunity to visit a number of area highlights, including Confindustria Brescia’s Factory of the Future installation, Berlucchi winery, Iper and LaEsse supermarkets, Peck, La Rinascente and Zero Farms vertical farm.

With the success of its second edition, America Buys Italian has cemented its place as an important annual forum for connecting decision makers from top U.S. independent grocery chains with food and wine producers from all over Italy. The IACC would like to thank event partners the National Grocers Association and Export USA for their invaluable support in co-organizing America Buys Italian, as well as Bper Bank, UBV and the numerous Italian counterparts who graciously shared their knowledge, innovative spirit and generous hospitality with our group.

Fondi Export International Road Show Lecce – October 13
On October 13, IACC Executive Director Federico Tozzi took part in the Fondi Export International Roadshow in Lecce, Italy. By providing practical assistance, market entry information and access to financing, Fondi Export–a collaborative effort undertaken by the IACC and fellow Assocamerestero member chambers–supports small and mid-sized Italian companies in achieving their internationalization goals. Federico spoke to local food and beverage producers about opportunities and incentives to attend the NGA Show in Las Vegas, the independent grocery industry’s premier annual trade show, organized by the National Grocers Association.

Mirabilia Food & Drink – October 14-18
IACC Executive Director Federico Tozzi and three specialty food and wine importers from the IACC traveled to Lipari in Sicily’s Aeolian islands to take part in Mirabilia Food & Drink, a 5-day exploratory trade mission organized by the Mirabilia Network and the Messina Chamber of Commerce. Over the course of the trip, participants explored the local territory, visiting several producers and learning about the area’s indigenous ingredients and specialties and had the opportunity to make connections with local producers during B2B meetings and educational workshops.

 

Marketing Strategies with Neuromarketing Concepts – October 18
During this fascinating workshop co-organized with the Small Business Administration (SBA), participants took a deep dive into the emerging field of neuromarketing, the study of the brain to predict and potentially even manipulate consumer behavior and decision making. SBA Economic Development Specialist Man-Li Lin helped participants gain a greater understanding of how neuromarketing efforts can help inform creative advertising, product development, pricing, and other marketing areas.

 

Meet the Member: Tesisquare – October 26
On October 26, IACC member Tesisquare hosted fellow members for a “Meet the Member” evening at ModernHaus Soho eatery Jumpin Jacks. Guests had the chance to catch up with one another while learning more about Tesi and its services. With over 27 years of experience in information technology, Tesi helps companies build digital supply chain ecosystems while empowering clients to maximize their performance across extended business networks. Thanks to our host, Tesisquare, for an informative and enjoyable evening!

IACC President Alberto Milani Takes Home Top Honor at 6th Annual Business Care International Award Ceremony
The sixth edition of the Business Care International Awards were held on October 26 at the Italian Consulate General in New York. The Business Care International Awards honors professionals who have demonstrated courage, vision, talent and passion in representing Italy and the Italian identity abroad.

The event, organized under the supervision of the Board of Directors of Business Care Communications in collaboration with Trend Group USA, Highgate Hotels, ITA Airways and media partners RAI Italia, LaPresse and Sole24 Ore, honored seven prominent global figures, including the IACC’s own Alberto Milani, for their remarkable contributions in Italian business.

Smeraldina and Pasta Toscana Team Up with Marino
IACC member Marino, a full-service strategic communications firm with offices in New York and Los Angeles, announced today that Smeraldina Water and Pasta Toscana have joined the firm’s growing roster of Italian food and beverage brands. Smeraldina, a premium, family-owned bottled water that was awarded the 2023 “Best Water in the World” honor at the Berkeley Springs International Water Competition, is sourced from one of the deepest aquifers in Europe on the island of Sardinia, one of the world’s renowned blue zones. Marino is tasked with increasing the visibility of the artesian water in the U.S. market through creative media relations and influencer engagement strategies.

Pasta Toscana, also family-owned, is a Tuscany-based pasta brand that implements sustainable practices with the finest local ingredients to create some of the highest quality pasta in the world. The brand has tapped Marino to develop and execute a tailored social media strategy to educate consumers and create greater brand awareness.
