Venetian Luxury Meets Opera Legacy:
The Merchant of Venice Launch Event
The historic residence of the Italian Ambassador in Tokyo transformed into a haven of artistic excellence on October 21st as The Merchant of Venice celebrated its official Japanese launch. The evening showcased not only the brand’s exquisite fragrance collection but also unveiled their tribute to opera legend Maria Callas – a special edition perfume marking her centenary.
In an elegant affair hosted by Italian Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti, guests were treated to an intimate exploration of Venice’s rich perfumery heritage. Marco Vidal, CEO of The Merchant of Venice, presented the brand’s journey from its roots in the ancient Venetian “Muda” trading routes to its modern interpretations of historical recipes.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Maria Callas Eau de Parfum, a sophisticated tribute to the iconic diva. The launch was perfectly complemented by an enchanting performance from renowned opera singer Eri Nakamura, bringing together the worlds of fragrance and classical music.
The brand’s collection, featuring bottles inspired by Murano’s thousand-year-old glassmaking tradition, captured the essence of Venetian craftsmanship. From body care products to room fragrances, each piece told a story of the city’s enduring connection to the art of perfumery.
The event marked a significant milestone in The Merchant of Venice’s expansion in Japan, following its successful introduction through pop-up shops earlier this year.
